Calling All Improv Teams......

First off I would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year......I look forward to posting some quality blogs for 2010!!

There's nothing better than starting off the New Year by taking a vacation, or at least that's what the more fortunate people do. When I say 'starting off' I mean catching a flight to Mexico 4 hours after the ball drops for 2010!! That's what the Gapetto crew did, and they didn't do it like they're doin' it for TV....it's just what they do.

I'm sure most of you have been to Mexico, and despite having the best weather and most incredible beaches the resorts still lack one thing.....quality food. I can remember have the best time partying there, but all of my good Mexican food memories are from eating at Domino's Pizza or McDonald's. So you can imagine what the Gapetto crew is going through with the lack of quality food and wine. Mind you, they did bring their own wine and 3 packs of vaccum packed proscuitto (this isn't a lie, I watched them pack it with my own eyes).

The crew is used to eating fresh food from the restaurant, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that but just imagine the difference in quality from VT's to the Mexican resort. I mean.....when I'm getting a picture of Matt eating burgers there is a serious problem (...and the burger isn't a kobe patty on an artisan bun with $40 dijon mustard!!). It's straight horse meat on a week old bun and catsup.

Nonetheless, you can always leave it up to Sanchez to dig himself out of a bad situation by improvising and building his own menu at the buffet. At the restaurant he has an amazing Caprese Salad on the menu (as seen below), which is composed salad of vine ripened tomato, baby arugula and bocconcini cheese drizzled with rosemary oil and aged balsamic vinegar.

Then you take Sanchez and put him in Mexico with limited resources and this is what he does; He takes a tomato from the buffet and slices it to resemble a Caprese salad and stuff's it with sliced cheese and guacamole!! (actual pic from Sanchez below)

We will be starting a petition on the blog to have this item on the menu at VT's or Navarra or Restaurant 18 for at least a special!! With everyones help and cleanslacks I think we can make it happen.
